ASPHALT AND PAVING FABRIC OVERLAYS
- Over time, when an asphalt paving surface is exposed to traffic and irrigation, its surface becomes rough and develops fine cracks. In this case an Asphalt Overlay is a cost-effective solution which adds years of use to the existing pavement.
- An Asphalt Overlay consists of installing an additional layer (typically 1” up to 2”) of new hot mix asphalt over the old, deteriorated surface.
- In some cases, when the surface cracks are severe, a Fabric Overlay is the best solution. A Fabric Overlay is similar to an Asphalt Overlay, but adds crack-retarding fabric between the layers of the old and new asphalt. This “bridges” the cracks delaying the appearance of new cracks, extending your budget dollars and reducing the appearance of future cracks.
